Lee Ellis
Lee Ellis is a British multimedia artist based in Bristol, celebrated for his emotionally charged abstract portraits that blur the line between chaos and control. Originally trained in graphic design at the University of the West of England, Ellis quickly grew disillusioned with the commercial art world and shifted his focus to raw, process-led painting. His work is deeply expressive, often combining painting, drawing, printmaking, spray paint, and even linocut to create pieces that feel both spontaneous and deliberate. Saturated colors, distorted figures, and heavy, gestural brushwork define his aesthetic—often evoking the emotional intensity of artists like Francis Bacon, Frank Auerbach, and Lucian Freud.
